Trip to Colorado and Utah

On May 29th, Mason and I set off for a 12 day trip to visit our family out West. We flew from MSP to Denver. We rented a car and drove to my cousin Krista’s home in Gypsum (between Vail and Glenwood Springs). The drive from Denver to Gypsum was exquisite. The vistas were incredible, and being there made me realize how much I miss the West. As we came out of the Eisenhower tunnel we could see snow. Our family did a lot of camping in Colorado when I was a kid, but it’s been a long time since I’ve traveled there except for the Four Corners area. Mason was difficult on the trip. He was still getting over his illness, and we’d been to the Ophthalmologist at Mayo the day before. Mason has to have another corrective eye surgery on August 13th. Not only is Mason at a difficult age to take places because he’s in to everything, he couldn’t eat everything that other people could eat. He is also developmentally delayed in speech, so he screams when he’s frustrated, tired, or bored. When he’s out …
